Some years ago, the Western Australia Abalone Aquaculture Association (WAAAA), the peak industry body for WA abalone farmers, identified the necessity to formulate an industry development plan (IDP) for the industry.
Professor Peter Cook was selected as the consultant to run this process, and he conducted a series of meetings with abalone farmers as well as a series of stakeholder workshops.
This process culminated in the publication of an IDP towards the end of 2002.
