Ecosystem degradation and human health

CENRM_EDHH_2

Environmental degradation has been linked to health problems both in Australia and overseas.

Impacts on human health

The Centre has experience in exploring the potential health issues associated with the disruption of ecosystem processes.

We recently completed a study examining the deleterious effects of dryland salinity on human health, and current studies include air pollution and water disinfection by products.

Experience and expertise

The Centre has experience and expertise in:

  • spatial epidemiology, including Bayesian spatial models
  • use of point and count disease data
  • using the Western Australian Health Data Linkage System
  • data confidentiality
  • environmental monitoring
  • data collection
  • GIS and mapping
  • study design and data analysis
