Peter Speldewinde and Paul Close are two new UWA PhD graduates from Albany.
Peter’s thesis examined the relationship between dryland salinity and human health. The results indicated that dryland salinity, as with other examples of ecosystem degradation, is associated with an increase in human disease prevalence.
Paul Close’s thesis studied the ecological water requirements for estuarine lagoons in south-western Australia. The outcomes of his research should facilitate better management of freshwater resources on the south coast.
